Peas:
Well some of them anyways. I will say most of the pea plants came up strong.. but we did weed around them leaving some with no protection from the sun. Some of the pea plants look burned at the roots.. guess we will see how they hold up this week..
More Peas near the front of the garden..
Broccoli:
Yes, we do have some broccoli, they are still very small, I really need to reed up on the how too's of maintaining broccoli :)

Clockwise from top left: Nasturtium, Cilantro, Thyme, Oregano, Chives (still have not come up, must be duds), Parsley and Basil. This week SIL Evelyn trimmed the Oregano where she set up to start the drying process. Yet the bed is still full! Go herbs go!!
Grapes:
So glad SIL Evelyn found a book, and trimmed the vines back and trained them the proper way to grow. Look at how full this baby is!
Not sure what type of beetle or bug this is.. but it likes the leave and really doesn't mess with the fruit! Whew!
The flower beds:
I know I am a bit ashamed myself.. I know personally for me I have paid more attention to the rest of the garden then the flowers.. Sorry flowers..
On a good note, SIL's daughter gave her a sunflower to plant.. and she has survived and has a bud! Woot Woot!!
Squash and Pumpkins:
Acorn Squash.. ha ha conveniently located right next to the corn :)
Squash and/or Pumpkins :)
Squash and/or Pumpkin
Remember the Dill and the Cucumber.. well this week I could not find any dill and found only 1 Cucumber.. or it is Zucchini?!?! You decide...
Tomatoes:
What a difference one week makes with some rain...
I believe the tag says Heirloom.. Time will tell..
Showed this picture to Evelyn, she believes this one it a Yellow Taxi tomato...
SO very impressed with one weeks progress, and the amount of tomatoes, no its not astounding but its pretty amazing!
Corn and Clover:
Ha! My inspiration for the week!

Hops.. they seem to be doing well with the transplant so far!
Borage (top) and Rhubarb (bottom):
I no the borage looks sad, but I swear (I know I shouldn't swear) they liven up only after a good watering.. sigh.. the Rhubarb I am not so sure it is taking well to its transplant . we will wait and see!
Well, that is it for now.. Can't wait to see what week 6 bring our happy family! and on week 8 all the family will be together again to put some more fingers, toes and elbows in this beautiful thing!
Grow you garden and see what inspires you!

ReplyDeleteThank you :) This garden will feed (hopefully) our 6 full time kids, our cousin and her husband and 3 kids, SIL Evelyn and husband BIL Jake... I do believe it will also go to Aunt Jo and Uncle Steve too..OMG soo many people with this.. we are just truly blessed! A great family!
DeleteHey, I read that when the taters have blossoms you can dig new potatoes! Somebody might have to test that theory today! Aaron and Carol have the best recipe in the universe for new potatoes. Boil for a few minutes, drain, add shucked new peas and chopped parsley and a stick or two of butter. Mmmm...
ReplyDeleteOK! I like the challenge.. now which plant?.. Or should we wait for some peas to be fresh, then snip of some parsley.. Nice!! I just love the freshness! <3
